RV Service Writer Job Description

The RV service writer position acts as the liaison between our customers and our service team. They are responsible for understanding customers’ needs and communicating them to our service technicians/mechanics. Service Writers are also responsible for setting expectations with the customer on costs, time estimates, and warranties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meet with customers to discuss their RV repair needs.
• Create price estimates and time needed for repairs
• Request parts that are needed.
• Schedule service to specific jobs.
• Communicating the needs of customers to our service technicians. 
• Communicate work order status to customers.
• Enter work order details into our management system
• Track repairs and ensure jobs are complete in a timely fashion.
• Process customer payments, warranties and insurance. 
• Follow up with customers to ensure prompt collection of payments

Skills and Knowledge: 

• Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers and service advisors. 
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage time effectively and maintain a clean and organized work area. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  Education and experience requirements:

• A minimum of the 2 years’ experience in sales and/or customer service of RV Service technician experience
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic understanding of accounting and electronic payment systems.
• People skills including conflict resolution, problem-solving and listening.
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record; Ability to drive vehicles. 
• Physical: Body Positions – Standing, sitting, and some bending. 

Body Movements – Walking, hand movements, use of hands, eyes, arms, legs, and voice.

Physical Requirements – Occasional pushing, pulling, and lifting to 50 lbs. and using safe lifting techniques.

Measures of Performance:

• Need little supervision
• Hourly reporting is accurate and on time consistently
• Service Writer meets all deadlines and commitments to customers and owner.
• Keeps the owner informed on all aspects of the work product
