RV Service Technician Job Description
The RV service technician position is responsible for inspection, diagnosis, repair, and overhaul of recreational vehicles, including travel trailers, motorhomes, and other RV types. The service technician will have experience in maintaining various systems like plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and structural components, as well as appliances and interior parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnosis and Repair: Identifying and resolving issues with various RV systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and structural components.
- Inspection: Checking for damage or repair needs on the RV fleet, including structural components and interior elements.
- Installation: Installing new or upgraded parts and components, including appliances, electronics, and accessories.
- Customer Interaction: Communicating with customers about repair needs, explaining procedures, and addressing their questions.
- Record Keeping: Documenting all work performed, including parts used and labor time.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols and industry standards.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of RV systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and structural components.
- Diagnostic Skills: Ability to identify and diagnose problems with various RV systems and components.
- Repair Skills: Proficiency in repairing and replacing damaged or worn components.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers and service advisors.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues. Organizational Skills: Ability to manage time effectively and maintain a clean and organized work area.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education and experience requirements:
- A minimum of the 2 years of RV Service technician experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with a proven track record for excellent work.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record; Ability to drive vehicles.
- Physical: Body Positions – Standing, sitting, and some bending.
Body Movements – Walking, hand movements, use of hands, eyes, arms, legs, and voice.
Physical Requirements – Occasional pushing, pulling, and lifting to 75 lbs. and using safe lifting techniques.
Measures of Performance:
- Need little supervision
- Hourly reporting is accurate and on time consistently
- Service Technician meets all deadlines and commitments to customers and owner.
- Keeps the owner informed on all aspects of the work product
